Once vignettes

So last week I was finally exasperated enough with canon Once Upon a Time that I actually started that vignette series I've talked about. Tonight I wrote another one. It's kind of fun, as long as I stick with characters I like to write about. I'm still not sure I really hear them as well as some other writers do, and I'm very shy about posting them off of LJ because of that, but I do kind of like how they're coming out. I've been posting them at
31_days, as the prompts have been really good and workable.
I may have tweaked the time of year a bit, as the first fic (the one from last year) is set sometime before Christmas. However, I don't recall mentioning Thanksgiving, so now I've decided that this is happening before Thanksgiving, too. After all, some radio stations start playing Christmas music right after Halloween, and most have started by now, so Belle could have very well heard the song Please Come Home for Christmas playing without Thanksgiving having to have passed. She would probably focus more on Christmas than Thanksgiving, since Christmas was celebrated in their original world too. (I assume.) And I decided I liked the idea of a Thanksgiving piece. I don't know if I'll actually get a second one written within the week, but maybe it would be some sort of cracky piece where the whole mismatched family is trying to celebrate Thanksgiving. I remembered David's cracky comment about how ridiculous it would be to try to have the whole family there and started to giggle.
I also actually had a brief moment of considering buying the DVDs, at least of the first two seasons. I don't know if I actually would, as I've always felt that I didn't like the show enough to actually buy it, but who knows what the future might bring.

Date: 2014-11-26 01:36 am (UTC)It started off okay but then it started to turn into a Disney straight to video sequel, but then I remind myself that it could be worse, they could still be in Neverland.
Plus I've been kind of disappointed with Rumple this season (though impressed with the writers when he turned the sorcerer's apprentice into a mouse that was kind of clever) I mean I never saw when he was really bad in season one but, it kind of bothers me that he is going to extreme lengths just to free himself from the dagger and by taking Hook's heart I mean.
well if the Rumbelle marriage is doomed at least we'll always have that dance at the beginning of the seasonAlso I kind of feel that Henry has been kind of underused. I mean at least Regina had been trying to do the right thing
when it came to reviving Marian from Ingrid's curseand as for Frozen, well.....was the snow queen really needed? I mean I thought it was fine with just Elsa looking for Anna.
I can't imagine how bad Ursula and Cruella and Malificent would be but I hope we get more info on Aurora's backstoryIf I gave away any spoilers I'm sorry

Date: 2014-11-26 09:31 am (UTC)I don't really like what they've done or not done with Henry either, or the whole Robin Hood/Regina mess. They shouldn't have ever been paired to begin with. The writers trying to split up Robin and Marian is sacrilege.
I think it was weird to put The Snow Queen in there, too. From what I've been hearing, she's more important to the storyline than the actual Frozen characters, which ... makes very little sense when the whole arc was supposed to be for the Frozen characters.
Frankly, I think the show is such a serious mess by now that there's no hope of them ever getting it back on track.
