AUUUUUUUURGGGGGGH!

So I finally got some Amazon gift cards from some of my survey places and I went to use them last week. Amazingly, the Perry DVD sets I wanted most of what I'm missing were still excellent prices, so I grabbed all of season 8 and the latter half of season 9.
Some moron didn't get the discs put in the case for the season 9 set! It arrived completely empty! I've already complained to Amazon and put in for a replacement, but uuggggh, it's just so frustrating and disappointing! That was the one I wanted the very most, because there's still some episodes on it that I've never seen uncut, including one of my most favorites. I've been waiting for literally years for the price to come down enough that I could buy it. I wish the discs had been missing from the first half of season 8, if they had to go missing from anywhere. And I'm wondering if a whole batch was screwed up and I'll get another empty case when the replacement comes.
I know it's not Amazon's fault that the discs were missing, and I promise I wasn't rude when I complained, but just ... why couldn't the person doing the packing have realized that the season 9 case was much too light and something was wrong? I realized instantly, even before I opened it to look. This is the third time I've had a problem with an Amazon order. The other two times, it was their fault because they didn't pack things in the proper sized boxes.
At least another, emergency order of something else is already here and an hour away. It will probably come tomorrow. But me being cynical, I'll probably be concerned that the disc I want most in that set will be damaged, until I have it and can play it and see.
Ever since I've been watching The Man From U.N.C.L.E., I've wanted the discs. But I just can't afford the complete set and the season sets are all out of print and are outrageous prices even used. (Warner Brothers is just so greedy, to force people to only be able to buy the complete set! AUUUURGH!) I don't like buying used discs, but I'm willing to if it's something I want badly enough and there's no other reasonable way to get it. I was able to get a new copy of season 4 before its price went sky-high, which I'm thoroughly grateful for, but this time I was after season 1.
It just seems like I've been having bad luck all over the place the last couple of weeks when it comes to picking up things I've been especially wanting to own for years. Sometimes my VCR won't record things with sound if the tape gets pushed in too fast. I'm sure I didn't push it in too fast, but in any case, I ended up with a soundless copy of The Odd Man Affair. I was hopping mad. For a while I couldn't even believe it had happened with that episode of all episodes. I tried the tape four times, wanting desperately to believe it was a mistake and it really would play properly.
But for the first time ever, someone was selling season 1 at a reasonable price. They had several former rental sets, so it's just the discs and not the fancy box. They said the discs all go through a professional buffing machine before they're sold, and I understand that is to correct problems with them if there are any, so I'm hoping they will all play properly. If just disc 10 works, I'll be happy.

Date: 2015-03-29 07:47 pm (UTC)Amazon just epically fails every so often. Though I've never had anything as bad as what happened to you, one of my YGO DVDs and one of my Doctor Who DVDs have damage to the cases. The discs themselves are fine, so I just shut up about them, but it's really unbelievable that whoever was packing them didn't notice the damage--especially to the Doctor Who one.
*hugs at all the other bad luck* I hope everything works out.

**hugs.** Thanks. :)
