Conflicted.

... I love extreme hair parts. They look so classy and beautiful. I've worn my hair in one for years, and I keep staring at my Rarity and Trixie dolls, which each have one. DJ has one too, but it's not as visible because of the sunglasses and headphones she wears. Sometimes I take those off to show her hair and eyes better, but they're such a staple of the character that I always end up putting them back on. Also, Richard and Christopher wear extreme hair parts to great success.
So I was at Wal-Mart this past evening, but I was being rushed and I was having a difficult time deciding what to do. I still liked the Applejack doll I was considering, but one thing I haven't liked is that her shoes are stamps. I wonder if she can stand easily with that as the case. Also, I find her asymmetrical dress odd. That sort of style always makes me scratch my head in confusion. And she doesn't come with a second dress, as some of the girls do.
Then there's the Lyra and Sweetie Drops dolls. They don't come with many accessories (just cosmetic glasses each) and I really hate to pay over $10 for any doll without a lot of accessories and/or an elaborate outfit. These girls have neither and are about $13 each. I want them, and since they're just background characters I'm worried that they won't get re-released later and I should get them now, but at the same time I cringe to think of paying full price for them. I had just about made up my mind before I went to get Lyra if I saw her, but then I discovered that it looks like it's just the main characters available in a slightly cheaper line and the new girls like Lyra are closer to $13. The difference is a matter of cents, really, but when anything over $10 makes me cringe for these accessory-less dolls, I hesitated. And I probably would have hesitated at the slightly cheaper price too, really. It's popular in fanon for Lyra and Sweetie Drops to be friends (or lovers, whichever one prefers), and I think the idea of them being friends is cute, so I'd kind of like to get both dolls at the same time. And I wasn't really prepared to drop that much money right then. I wish Wal-Mart would run another $10 sale on those dolls, but they probably won't until Fall.
There's also a Sweetie Drops Pony, which I should get since I've had the Lyra Pony since her original release.
Wal-Mart is currently running a sale on the second Equestria Girls movie, and I almost bought that, but then I wasn't sure about that, either. I want it, yet I felt so bad for Sunset Shimmer most all the way through it because she was being excluded by everyone who was supposed to be her friend, aside from Twilight Sparkle. I love her for staying strong and continuing to want to repent in spite of all that. Weaker people might well have backslid. But anyway, on that I figured that the sale will last a while since it apparently just started, so I'll hopefully have some more chances for that. Maybe next week I'll want to get it.
Then there's the Care Bears plushies I wanted. I haven't forgotten them; the local Wal-Mart just doesn't have any of the ones I specially wanted. I'd like to go back to that other Wal-Mart and look at the big powder blue plush now that I'm in a position where I could get him. Not that I really would, but I'd like to look and see how I'd feel about it. Maybe I'd decide that I want him, since it's so hard to find the blue ones anywhere. I'd also like to check Toys R Us's selection, but I'm betting they charge about $5 more for those big plushies. And maybe $2 more for the smallest, softest size.
Still waiting for the Sunset Shimmer plush, too. Sigh. Even though I prefer her as a human, I doubt we'd ever get a human version plush, so I'll happily take the Pony version.
And even though the problem with the Rarity doll makes me not want to buy any dolls online again, I'm worried I probably will have to get Octavia that way, since she just isn't showing up in stores. Octavia is the doll I want the very most of any. Her, and the second Sunset Shimmer release with the correct hair.
Also, totally switching topics, but I was watching The Mod Squad and thinking how different it is from the way someone described it to me once as corny/cheesy. Instead it's almost always a very gritty, deep show, and often dark. It's also often beautiful. And it's one of the best examples of a series depicting guy and girl friendship that doesn't go into romantic territory. Admittedly, there's some slight hints about Pete and Julie by season 4, but if they have any romantic interest in each other, they don't follow up on it. They're best platonic friends first and foremost. I just love the special bond between them and Linc. That series is really something unique, a true treasure, because of that.
