How old is old-school? I would consider "old-school" early nineties. And for me, it'd be a toss-up between the Sega Genesis Sonic games (particularly Sonic 3/Sonic & Knuckles, which should be combined into Sonic 3 and Knuckles for maximum enjoyment. X3) and the early Super Mario Brothers games. Particularly Super Mario 2 and Super Mario 3. Oh man, I loved those so much. I was always begging my brother to let me play his copy of Super Mario All-Stars. Princess Peach was my favorite to play as in Mario 2, though unfortunately she isn't always as practical when she can't jump as high as Mario and Luigi. ;__; And Mario 3 ... ! **squees.** I couldn't get enough of the fun of getting Raccoon Mario and making him fly. And I was so excited when I finally completed the barge for the first world. XD;
I love Super Mario 1 and the Lost Levels too, though not as much. I think it was Mario 1 I dreamed about, however. XD **remembers one bizarre dream where she played up to like level 44 or something, which of course doesn't exist.**
Unfortunately, neither my brother or I had a Sega Genesis system, so when I wanted to play Sonic, I had to rely on friends and the displays in Toys R Us. I was ecstatic when I finally got some Sonic games to be played on the PC. ♥
