I know he gets accused a lot of being an L rip-off, or people just dislike him because he isn't L, or people don't like some of the decisions he makes, but I always have liked him. Maybe I wouldn't if I read Death Note again, I don't know. But to my way of thinking, that series is pretty much filled with characters who have many flaws. And Near's apparently didn't rub me the wrong way and I like him in spite of them.

Right-clicking and hitting 'view background image' gives me a 404 error, so maybe the site is just down or something XD;

I know the premise of Death Note and the ending, and that's about it XD; I do hear that the characters each have a lot of problems, though. Glad you got who you wanted X3

I'm more with the people who think he's an L-rip off. But I don't hate him. I just didn't find him as interesting as L. My friend and I refer to him affectionately as the "little demon."

I like Near as well (it was Mello who took awhile for me)! Have you ever taken the quiz here at a DN fan site? Their answers are a bit more detailed (not that every quiz ought to be taken that seriously), least it was when I took it several years ago (got L).

Ditto. It took me quite a while to warm up to Mello. I think I only did when I realized he reminded me of Alister.

And I think I did! I think I got L on it. Maybe I should take it again and see what happens.
