I stole something from Tumblr again. This was on Gwen's Tumblr, but I'm not sure if she wrote it or was just posting it from someone else. (It wasn't a reblog.)
1. What's your favorite candle scent? Something autumny, maybe. We don't tend to burn scented candles, but I love smelling them in the stores.
2. What female celebrity do you wish was your sister? Cherie Call.
3. What male celebrity do you wish was your brother? Joseph Campanella.
4. How old do you think you'll be when you get married? I dunno. I'd rather not speculate. I'd like to either not marry at all or not marry for many years, but I worry about getting married while I have child-bearing possibilities.
5. Do you know a hoarder? Yeah --- me.
6. Can you do a split? Probably. I'd probably hurt myself, though.
7. How old were you when you learned how to ride a bike? I dunno. I never really learned that well; there weren't really any places to ride in the city, so I kind of gave up. It didn't seem sensible to take time learning when I wouldn't be able to really use the knowledge anyway.
8. How many oceans have you swam in? None.
9. How many countries have you been to? This one.
10. Is anyone in your family in the army? My dad used to be.
11. What would you name your daughter if you had one? Not sure. I think I've always liked the name Crystal --- even before I found a friend who likes that alias.
12. What would you name your son if you had one? Joseph. Again, something I liked before I became enamored of Joseph Campanella --- but being enamored of him certainly doesn't hurt.
13. What's the worst grade you got on a test? I don't remember. My grades were usually really good. My English teacher and I disagreed on stuff, though, and sometimes she'd mark me down on things I didn't feel she should have. That always made me rage.
14. What was your favorite TV show when you were a child? "When I was a child"? Good Heavens, what a broad time period. I had so many favorite shows. Are we talking when I was four? Six? Nine?
15. What did you dress up as on Halloween when you were eight? How the **bleep** do I know? ... I guess that may have been the year I dressed up as a candy-loving lion. The next year I started making my own costumes. I remember the first one was Ed the hyena from The Lion King, but after that I'm not quite sure of the order. I remember Georgette and Rita from Oliver and Company in different years, and Sawyer from Cats Don't Dance.
16. Have you read any of the Harry Potter, Hunger Games or Twilight series? I've read five Harry Potter and one Twilight. I'm honestly not really a fan of either series. And the plot of The Hunger Games just disturbs me. Kids being forced to battle to the death in a post-apocolyptic world? Um, no thank you. What a horribly depressing-sounding world.
17. Would you rather have an American accent or a British accent? Good question. I like speaking like an American, but oooh, British accents are so lovely.
18. Did your mother go to college? No.
19. Are your grandparents still married? My grandparents are all dead. They stayed married to each other while alive, though.
20. Have you ever taken karate lessons? No. I'd kind of like to, but aside from not having the money, I'm worried I might hurt my hands. And my hands are almost everything. I type and draw; I must have the use of my hands.
21. Do you know who Kermit the frog is? Yes.
22. What's the first amusement park you've been to? I dunno. I don't recall ever going to one. I've been to the state fair and that's probably about it.
23. What language, besides your native language, would you like to be fluent in? Japanese.
24. Do you spell the color as grey or gray? Depends on my mood and the context. Sometimes only "grey" looks right. Other times, "gray" is fine.
25. Is your father bald? No.
26. Do you know triplets? No.
27. Do you prefer Titanic or The Notebook? I haven't seen either one, but knowing what I do about both, I would probably prefer The Notebook.
28. Have you ever had Indian food? Yes. What I've had, I like.
29. What's the name of your favorite restaurant? Chuck-A-Rama, a buffet.
30. Have you ever been to Olive Garden? No.
31. Do you belong to any warehouse stores (Costco, BJ's, etc.)? No.
32. What would your parents have named you if you were the opposite gender? I have no idea. They knew I would be a girl; I doubt they even had boy names picked out.
33. If you have a nickname, what is it? If I tell that, it will give away what my real name is.
34. Who's your favorite person in the world? Jesus.
35. Would you rather live in a rural area or in the suburbs? Suburbs. I detest barnyard smells. Ugh.
36. Can you whistle? No. I never could and I still don't understand how it's done.
37. Do you sleep with a nightlight? I sleep with the light on. Nightlights make too many creepy shadows.
38. Do you eat breakfast every morning? I have to; my body won't be nice to me otherwise.
39. Do you take any pills or medication daily? Thank God, no.
40. What medical conditions do you have? Allergies.
41. How many times have you been to the hospital? ... To visit or as a patient? No times as a patient. I can't even count the number of times I've visited.
42. Have you ever seen Finding Nemo? Yes. It's cute. I was rather annoyed by the fishies mistakenly calling the boat a butt, though. That was a really lame way to fit in some misplaced and unnecessary scatological humor. And when you get into related lines like "touch the butt", it just kind of made my skin crawl.
43. Where do you buy your jeans? Wherever has the best deal. Usually the clearance racks at J.C. Penney, Sears, or Kohls.
44. What's the last compliment you got? A friend was happy that I listen and understand when she needs it.
45. Do you usually remember your dreams in the morning? Oftentimes.
46. What flavor tea do you enjoy? I really cannot stand tea. For the life of me I don't know how anyone can drink it and enjoy it. Maybe I've just never had a really delicious kind, since I've only drunk herbal teas, but I have a hard time believing there is such a thing. I guess raspberry tea isn't too bad. It didn't really do anything for me, but at least it tasted fairly nice. I'd rather drink raspberry juice, however.
47. How many pairs of shoes do you currently own? I dunno. About four will fit me without discomfort. I have other pairs that don't fit so well anymore.
48. What religion will you raise your children to practice? Same as mine.
49. How old were you when you found out that Santa wasn't real? 8. But I had already figured it out myself; it wasn't any biggie.
50. Why do you have a tumblr? Because I feel like it.
I was also tagged to answer some questions that Kohaku and Trix wrote. I don't use my Tumblr for posting memes and such, so I decided to bring those over here too. Trix's first, then Kohaku's, which is the order I saw them.
1. Favourite fairy tale? You know, I never have been big on fairy tales. All that mushy stuff. I like friendships better. And familial relationships. So Disney's modern fairy tale based on The Snow Queen is probably what's perfect for me. :)
However, going by traditional fairy tales, it would have to be Beauty and the Beast. Beautiful tale of true love being depicted as getting to know someone, instead of all that love at first meeting nonsense.
2. If you could have any two superpowers, what would they be? Flight is really the only one I want. Although ice-based powers might be kind of fun....
3. If you were a dryad, what kind of tree would you live in? I don't really want to live in a tree. It would have to be a huge tree with a hollow trunk, and I'd live in the trunk. I'd never want to live in the branches, with birds always dropping by and making a mess. Although I might still encounter messes on my doorstep living in a trunk, too. Sigh. Not the life for me at all.
4. Favourite name(s) you’ve ever heard/read? This is a hard question, as I'm usually biased to whatever characters I adore at the moment and their names. But I perenially like Joseph, which is kind of surprising because I tend to not be as fond of more common names. I love lots of unusual names, but names that are still names, you know? I don't like nonsense such as naming kids after random stuff like Hashtags or the curly A symbol. I like the name Ginger a lot, but it intrigues me far more as a guy's name than a girl's, because that's more unusual. I like naming kids after months that usually don't get used as names but sound pretty, like September or October. And I like names that are kind of archaic now, like Coley. On more common names again, I like Samuel a lot. On girls' names, I like unique things too, like Crystal, or Rita and Georgette. Rita doesn't really sound like a name to give a baby, though. I dunno; some names sound like children's names and don't seem to fit adults, while other names fit adults but not children. It's hard to find a name sometimes that sounds good all the way along.
5. Favourite fruit? Strawberries and raspberries.
6. Favourite candy? Anything with chocolate. Although my favorite chocolate bar is Butterfinger. Yuuum. And Reese's Peanut Butter Cups.
7. Funniest CLEAN joke you know? Just one? I hear funny things all the times watching my shows. It's almost impossible to pick just one as the funniest!
8. If you were a shapeshifter and could only turn into one animal, what would it be? I used to think a white Poodle would be absolutely wonderful. I absolutely adore white standard Poodles. But cats are my favorite animals. Cats are so sleek and aloof and clean.
9. Favourite musical instrument? The piano. Which is much easier to play than guitars or violins, my other favorites.
10. Favourite mythical creature? Unicorn. And Pegasus. I love mythical horses; they're just so elegant and majestic. (And yes, I know unicorns in their original designs don't look as much like horses, but eh. It's common now for them to be thought of as horned horses, and that's what I think of.)
11. A genie appears before you and gives you three wishes. What do you wish for? 1. Enough money to help provide for the family, donate to charity, and have plenty left over for me to have fun buying things with. 2. To be able to get my novel finished and published. 3. To never get sick again.
1. How you got into the YGO fandom? My friend JP wanted me to try The Powerpuff Girls when the WB aired it, and he got me curious and interested enough to do so. I saw previews for YGO during the commercial breaks and thought it looked like fun. I tried an episode, which happened to be The Evil Spirit of the Ring, and I was hooked from there.
2. Favorite/Least Favorite character (fandom of your choice)? For YGO:
You know, current favorite character is actually pretty hard for me to pick. I went through phases of crushing hard on particular ones, but now that that's faded I'm left not being quite sure of my current feelings.
However, in the end I believe Marik still ranks pretty high on my favorites list. A disturbed, revenge-driven madman who realizes that everything he thought he knew isn't true and he's been hurting his loved ones so much, so he wants to clean up his act and be a better person.
I also have an extreme fondness for Duke, the serious loner of Yugi's group. Duke isn't all sunshine and rainbows, blindly believing everything will work out. Duke is skeptical and cynical, often bringing some needed realism to things.
And I remain thoroughly fascinated by the relationship between Duke and his store manager. What is this guy's role in the original? If not the manager, he seems to just be hanging out with Duke for the heck of it. In both Japanese and English, there is a definite closeness depicted between them. The unnamed character teases Duke and calls him pet names and Duke just lets him. Especially in the English dub, if he's just the manager, Duke would not let him get away with saying "Dukey-boy"! I really wish this character had been around more and that more fans would be interested in writing about his and Duke's friendship.
Least favorite character is probably Mr. Ishtar. There's just something so repulsive in how he treats Rishid like dirt and is just so obsessive about having a heir and carving up Marik's back in the ritual. That horrific grin as he heats the knife.... **shudders.**
3. Favorite Fanfics? Pretty much anything I've read by my friends. I mostly only read stories by friends, except for when I occasionally read a oneshot or two by people I don't know if it looks compelling. I'm much more likely to read oneshots than multi-chapters. Multi-chapters require a level of commitment that I usually don't have.
4. Any favorite childhood memories? Lots. One in particular ... hmm. Christmas of 1994, when I discovered a Sonic the Hedgehog plush under the tree. I didn't even know they made Sonic plushies. I was in Heaven!
5. Cats or Dogs? Cats, always. Dogs are cute and friendly, but I am more serious and aloof and I like an animal to match. I really don't care for dogs jumping on me or sniffing me, but I don't mind a cat rubbing against my legs. And cats can always make me laugh by doing strange things like climbing into any available (or unavailable) space or making a mad dash from one room to another. And, as Trix and I both feel, cats have softer fur. I love soft things.
6. One place in the world that you’d love to go to? Japan, the Holy Grail for all anime enthusiasts. It would be such fun to go there and find some anime merchandise stores! But I'd probably buy so much stuff I'd have trouble getting it home!
7. Favorite/Least Favorite Foods? Piiizza. Fried chicken. Cheeeese. Potatoes. I like almost everything, really. Except Ramen noodles. I feel so ill any time I've tried to eat them.
8. Favorite Movie? I actually like TV shows better than movies. A movie is just one adventure, so if you like a character and want more adventures, you're kind of gypped! With a TV show, there's a new adventure each episode! (Plus, episodes don't run as long as movies, so it's more convenient to watch them when you have a spare moment.)
That said, I like all Star Wars movies and The Lord of the Rings movies. I think of each saga as kind of a complete package, so I'm not sure I could pick just one.
I also like movies that have one or more of my darlings in them. I'm especially particular to Lifepod 1981 with Christopher Cary, One Minute to Zero with William Talman, and Murder, Inc. with Simon Oakland (and Joseph Campanella in a bit part). And Bullitt's a pretty good film too. Love Simon in it.
9. The Best Holiday in my opinion is _______because…? Christmas, because ... everything! Presents, decorations, music, snow, goodwill to men ... ! It's the most wonderful time of the year!
I also love Halloween. Spooky, creepy things! Cemeteries! Autumn leaves! Dressing up!
10. Quick, make a wish! I wish ... that everything will go alright tomorrow and I'll be able to meet my friend to see the Turtles movie. (I wrote this several weeks ago and have seen the Turtles movie on the Friday we planned. Unlike most people, I actually liked it.)
11. Your OTP’s from three fandoms (one from each fandom)? Picking three ... may prove problematic. I'm just not an OTP person. I prefer other types of relationships.
Rumpelstiltskin/Belle (Once Upon a Time): This twisted series' version of Beauty and the Beast. It's depicted so beautifully how Belle gets through to Rumpel's heart and how he begins to change because of her. I don't think I'll ever not be upset at how the writers suddenly backtracked and ruined this by having Rumpel lie to Belle about the dagger. Rumbelle fans have been waiting for a wedding for seasons, and then when they finally get it, it has to be spoiled by this!
Nephrite/Naru (Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon): The Romeo and Juliet of the Sailor Moon fandom, the pairing doomed to not have a second chance. Like with Rumpel and Belle, Naru begins to soften Nephrite's heart and she demonstrates maturity and true love despite her young age. Sadly for them, Zoisite plots against Nephrite and manages to ensure his death. The pairing is a huge part of my Sailor Moon fic and I definitely intend for them to have their second chance and a happy ending.
Seto/Tea (Yu-Gi-Oh!): What's funny about this mostly fanon pairing is that I started out scoffing at it and being certain it could never happen. Then I started thinking about it more and being intrigued by the thought that it possibly could happen. I investigated others' opinions and a few fics, I studied their limited interaction in the episodes, and I tried writing interaction of my own. And I ended up deciding I really loved the idea. They're such opposites, but I think there is definitely potential for fun interaction if they could just talk a bit and come to understand each other (although there would probably always be arguments about some things). Then it could either branch into friendship or romance or both. I feel guilty sometimes for liking this pairing, because of Yugi's crush on Tea, but I can't stop loving it anyway. I really don't like any of the other pairings of Seto with the girls of the series; Tea is the only one that makes sense to me. I've read some fics and seen fanworks of some of the other pairings and they pretty much do nothing for me.

21. Do you know who Kermit the frog is? Yes.
22. What's the first amusement park you've been to? I dunno. I don't recall ever going to one. I've been to the state fair and that's probably about it.
