Just for fun. XD Okay, so it's really a Mary-Sue test, but it could apply both ways, couldn't it? And I love Alexander more than any of my female OCs anyway.

Character's Name

-Is the character's name your own, your nickname, your screenname, or a slight variant--for example, Kelli instead of Kelly? (10 points) Nope!

-Is the character's name a noun or verb not often used by other people in your world for that function? (4 points) Nope!

-Is the character's name completely inappropriate to the setting, such as a Japanese name in a world with no other trace of Japanese language or culture? (5 points) Nope! His name is Alexander, which is the name that Alister came from. It was deliberately chosen.

-Is the character's main name a pseudonym? (2 points) It's his real name.

...that she chose as a reminder of her past? (Add 2) Nope.

...that is more "profound" or "cool" than her original name? (Add 1) Nope.

...that anyone with half a brain could use to connect the character with her original name, such as "Emilia" instead of "Emily?" (Add 4 points) Nope.

-Is the character named after a famous hero of the world or an animal? (2 points) Well, there's Alexander the Great, but Alexander wasn't named after him, so it doesn't count.

...And she has a mystical connection with that hero or that animal? (Add 4) Heck no!

-Is the character's name a modern one in a medieval setting, such as Tiffany or Brittany? (3 points) Nope.

Character's Appearance

-Does the character have an eye color that is unusual/rare among her people or species? (1 point) Nope.

...that is unique among her people/species? (2 points) He's just about the only one of his species. XD; Well, he hasn't found any other doppelgangers, at any rate, unless you count Yami Marik.

...that is nonexistent in nature? (Silver eyes with blue lightning bolts, etc.) (4 points) They're ice-blue eyes. While the shade may not exist, it's normal in an anime.

-Do the character's eyes get described more often than anyone else's? (2 points) Heck no.

...long after the reader should know what she looks like? (3 points) Definitely not.

...with many adjectives that are close variations of each other? (Blue eyes that are also called azure, cerulean, 'like a summer sky,' cobalt, etc.) (4 points) Nope! **starting to wonder if Alexander will score anything at all, at least for a while.** XD;

-Does the character have long, silky hair that flows down to the middle of her back or ankles? (2 points) It's fluffy and short, just above his shoulders.

...that never gets dirty or tangled in branches? (Add 2 points) It's short.

...that she can leave free without braiding and never have to wash or tend? (Add 2 points) It's SHOOORT.

...that remains free in the midst of battle? (Add 3 points) I don't see how he could really do anything with it. But it's short, so I won't take the points.

-Does the hair have some unusual marking, like a white streak that does not follow a scar or multiple colors? (3 points) It's just normal red.

-Does the character's hair get described more often than any other character's? (2 points) No!

...at inappropriate times, such as in the midst of battle? (Add 2 points) Good grief, no.

-Does the character's appearance have a "reason" other than you just wanting her to look that way? (Blue eyes to prove that she's the reincarnation of a goddess, white streak to show that she's blessed, etc.) (4 points) He resembles Alister because he's a doppelganger created from Alister's heart. His appearance is symbolic in many ways based on that. His short, fluffy hair is in the style that Alister used as a child, when his self-hatred first began. His blue eyes are similar to gray eyes, but different. His wings are symbolic because he originally wants to do something bad, but his intentions behind it are only good (he wants to kill Alister, but only because he believes it's what Alister wants and he wants to make Alister happy). I don't think that my reasons rate 4 points, though. After all, he doesn't look that way to prove that he's some near-perfect being, as the question indicated. **takes one.**

-Do other characters rhapsodize on about her beauty? (3 points) (Add 2 points if the character is one who wouldn't normally do this, like a taciturn soldier) He's handsome and cute, but no, the other characters don't really mention it.

-Does she cause dramatic effects with her beauty, such as people fainting or traffic accidents? (5 points) HECK NO.

-Does she have scars that, no matter how ugly they would probably look in real life, just "add to her attractiveness?" (3 points) No.

-Does she have an unusual or symbolically significant marking or birthmark? (3 points) Do his wings count? XD; (3)

Background

-Does your character have:

...one dead parent? (1 point) Nope!

...two dead parents? (2 points) Nope!

...one or two murdered parents? (3 points) (Add 2 points if they were killed in front of her) No!

...dead parents who stayed alive long enough to make dramatic death speeches? (3 points) (Add 5 points if they were wounded in the heart or throat) Nooo.

-Is the character an orphan/foundling/of unknown descent? (2 points) No. He knows where he comes from, and he's no orphan or foundling.

...who will dramatically rediscover her heritage? (Add 2 points) See above.

...who was raised as a peasant but is really a descendant of royalty? (Add 7 points, and I would ask you to please reconsider. Everyone and their mother has done this plotline to death) NOO.

-Was her family abusive? (3 points). (Add 2 points for every form of abuse on the list that your character has suffered) Nope.

-Is the character the object of a prophecy? (10 points, and consider that note about reconsidering repeated here) Thank goodness no.

...whose coming has been delayed by a sadistic god by "destiny" for several hundred years? (Add 5 points) NO!

-Is the character running away from home? (3 points) Heck no.

...despite knowing diddlysquat about surviving in the world outside? (Add 3 points) He doesn't know much about cruelty and how wicked people are, but he didn't run away.

Are the bad guys/good guys looking for the character? (3 points) No.

Skills and Special Abilities

Each skill from the following list is worth 1 point. If your character can perform the skill perfectly the first time, without any training whatsoever, then each is worth 3 points.

Sword-fighting. No. He's never touched a sword.

Knife-throwing. Ditto.

Archery. Ditto.

Bare-handed combat. No.

Destructive magic (flinging fireballs and the like). He can use Orichalcos-lighted blasts. XD; (1) But only because Alister was being controlled by the Orichalcos when he created Alexander. Alexander hates his destructive powers.

Healing. Nope. This is why he hates his destructive powers. He can take life away, but he can't save it, such as when Dartz was dying.

Singing beautifully. He's never tried. I don't think he can sing well, though. That's one of the "opposite" traits he has in relation to Alister.

Speaking to animals. Nope.

Shapeshifting. Thank God no. I never liked shapeshifting as a power, so I'd never give it to an OC of mine.

Speaking to gods. Nooo.

Speaking more than two languages. He can only speak what Alister can speak, which is English. Alister knows Swedish, too, but I don't think Alexander does.

Elemental magic. Nope.

Witchcraft. Nope.

Mental powers (telepathy, telekinesis). He can sense Alister's feelings sometimes. **will take half a point.**

-Is the character the "chosen" of a goddess/prophecy/elemental force/animal/big blue alien from Planet Yarkzarin? (5 points) No. -.-

-Does the character manage to do things that would be impossible for anyone else (such as dress as a man when she has an obviously large chest, survive falls from tall buildings with all bones intact, walk on a broken leg?) (4 points) I don't think so. He doesn't often feel physical pain, but that's a real problem for some humans. And he can get ill and feel pain sometimes, if it's extreme.

-Does the character perform magic that most people in your world cannot perform? (3 points) Most people can't do Orichalcos blasts. XD; But many characters in this world do have some kind of magic, so I don't think 3 whole points should be applied. **takes 1.**

-Add one point for every condition that applies to your character's magic.
She can do magic normally reserved for:

People of higher levels of training. No.

The opposite gender. Nope.

Another species. Nope!

Another type of mage. No.

People descended from a different bloodline. Nope.

The gods. Heck no.

-Is your character THE most powerful/best mage or fighter in the world? (7 points) Certainly not!

Personality and Relationships

These are worth 2 points each.

-Does your character have only flaws that:

Are not really flaws, like "too much compassion" or "too much wit?" He is innocent and childlike, but that leads to real problems, such as how he will sometimes only see things from his point of view. When he set out to kill Alister, it was because he believed Alister truly wanted to die. He could not see how it would hurt his friends or how it wasn't his right to take a life. He does have a lot of the "not really flaw" type things, but I don't know that he has ONLY that. Another flaw was how he loved what Alister hated and hated what he loved, because he is supposed to be Alister's opposite. He's grown a lot since then, though, and started developing his own opinions.

Do not inconvenience her, like not being able to cook but then never having to cook? Good question. I think he's been inconvenienced many a time by his flaws, though.

Are bad habits, such as biting her nails? He will defend himself if he feels threatened, such as if he thinks someone wants to use him for an experiment. However, this will sometimes result in him blasting someone who didn't have such intentions.

Can be airbrushed away at the end of the story, like timidity or arrogance that miraculously vanish? Just because he's mentally growing as a character doesn't mean he won't still have many of his flaws. They're part of who he is.

-Do your character's flaws and strengths contradict each other? (8 points) Eh? I don't think so.....

-Does your character instantly win the trust and affection of all the good characters? (4 points) Heck no. He showed up trying to kill Alister, for Heaven's sake. Alister later pitied him, when he leaned more about him and what he truly is, but only then. Valon doesn't like him, though, and I'm not sure what Raphael thinks. Dartz cares about him, as does Chris, but Ironheart is a bit stern and cold around him. None of them liked him instantly.

...alienate/make spiteful or jealous or fearful the bad ones? (Add 3 points) No. Valon feels jealous of him sometimes, but he doesn't need to be, and Valon's not a bad guy anyway. It's just a misunderstanding between them.

...make other characters obsess over her even when she's not around? (Add 4 points) Nooo.

...completely change another character's personality, such as redeeming a villain, or making the jealous bitch into her worshipper? (Add 5 points) No.

Do the character and her love interest fall in love...

...within a few months? (2 points) He doesn't have a love interest. Here we go, with the romance obsession and thinking that every OC has to fall in love with someone.

...within a week? (4 points) There is no love interest!

...within a day? (6 points) NO LOVE INTEREST!

...at first sight? (8 points) Are you listening to me? XD;

-Are they soulmates or reincarnated lovers who have been together before? (10 points) ..... **kills all the romance questions.**

-Does the character cause out-of-character reactions in others, such as making the arrogant mage care more about her than his research, or impatient thieves put up with her whining about everything? (6 points) I don't think so. Alister taking pity on Alexander was not out of character, I don't think. Alexander is childlike and innocent, and Alister sees him as a child. Also, Alister feels a responsibility towards him, since Alister accidentally created him. And while Dartz cares about Alexander, he doesn't tend to admit it openly.

-Does the character never make:

Big mistakes? (2 points) He makes big mistakes. Thinking that Alister wanted to die was a big mistake.

Small mistakes? (3 points) He makes small mistakes, too.

Factual mistakes? (4 points) Eh? Don't get what these are.

Perceptual mistakes? (She knows who's good and who's evil, etc.) (5 points) He makes them. When he loved who Alister hated and hated who Alister loved, that meant he hated Raphael and Valon, even though they're good people. However, he did not want to hurt them, because he knew that would hurt Alister.

-Are the character's perceptions identical with objective reality? (20 points) Eh? I don't get it, but I don't think so. Isn't this the opposite of the question you just asked me?

-Is there never any true competition for the main character? (5 points) He doesn't want to compete with anyone. He just wants to make Alister happy, and to be loved.

-Is she the only one with any true personality? (7 points) Oy. @___@ No, hardly.

Your Relationship To The Character

-Do you fantasize about being the character? (3 points) No.

...falling in love with her? (4 points) No. O__o

...falling in love with her love interest? (5 points) ..... THERE. IS. NO. LOVE. INTEREST.

-Do you act as the character outside the story (in a character journal, in an RPG, dressing up as her, etc.)? (8 points) He hasn't been in stories yet, only RPs, which are a form of story, and I don't think it counts.

Do you think the character is above criticism? (8 points) You know, I have a hard time answering this question. XD; I love Alexander, really. ^__^ (But I'm not IN love with him.) He's adorable. But in the end, Yes, I think he could be criticized, but one would have to really know all about him and his reasons to make a just criticism.

Does the character bear a marked physical resemblance to you? (4 points) No, he looks like Alister.

IS the character you? (15 points) No. @__@ Both he and Alister have elements of my personality, but neither one IS me.

Total Score: Six and a half points. XD;

0-80: Excellent character-building. Go you forth and give the world a good fantasy character.

81-175: Well, she might have some Sueish traits, but as long as you don't get carried away, you've still done well.

176-250: Sue. Go after the points you've probably earned in the personality and skills sections, and try to make others' reactions to her and her own powers a little bit more realistic.

251-299: Um. You can pull this off if you're a really, really good writer. I would advise against it, though.

300+: Completely and utterly Sueish. She needs to be hacked and burned. Or at least get some of those ridiculous cliches chopped off.

Well, that was interesting. I don't think it delved into all the aspects of a Mary-Sue/Gary-Stu, though.

I drew a h/c picture of Siegfried and Leonhard over the weekend. I posted a grayscale version because I love the texture I gave the hair. XD; I wish it was as easy to make realistic-looking hair for Valon.

I'm going to use Siegfried in an RP, soon, if I can sort out how I want to write for him. XD; I used him and Leonhard in chapter eight of LATT, which I posted this morning. ^__^

I've found that my favorite characters to write about are generally family units in some way, whether biological or adoptive: The Kaibas, the Ishtars, the Bikers, the Von Schraiders. . . . Duke is about the only exception, as he is a relative loner compared to the others. XD; And for some reason, the Wheelers never captured my interest as much as the other family units. Hmm. **wonders why this is.**
