1. I actually like Siegfried. He's amusing, but also intriguing, being about the only character who has never used magic or even witnessed it from another character. He's firmly based in technology, and hasn't had his views shaken, as Seto repeatedly has. I think he'd probably be more willing to accept magic than Seto, though, with his love of Norse mythology. I also wonder a lot about his family life, his relationships with his father and mother and such. The anime gives a glimpse of his relationship with his father, but nothing about his mother.
2. I still have very little interest in the first seven manga. XD; Probably sounds like sacrelige to die-hard manga fans and season 0 fans, but eh. Going back to my dislike of child villains, Mokuba as an antagonist is just freakin' creepy. Especially when my first exposure to him was his sweet self in the main anime. And I don't much like Seto in the first manga, but I prefer him there to his season 0 self. Him deliberately killing Gozaburo in season 0 goes against everything Takahashi-sama wanted for the character. I'm so glad the Duel Monsters anime is separate from season 0.
3. And I also still prefer the dub voices. I've tried to watch it in Japanese, and I love seeing what the dub cut out, but I'm always returning to my beloved dub. If the uncut dub had continued, that would be the most perfect thing for me. I'd get all the story, with the option of the voices I'm used to. Some of the Japanese voices I like, but others continue to just sound wrong to me. XD; My mind will not wrap around the idea of Yami Bakura being voiced by a girl and sounding so young.
3. Just my two cents on Yami Bakura's Japanese voice - though it is pretty high, he has a MEGA awesome evil cackle. It's the best villain-laugh I've ever heard. <3
(And I can't help but love that seiyuu in particular because... she did Ash in Japanese Pokemon, and she's an awesome singer. 8D)
Word about the dub. I don't like the edits either, but I love the VAs. Dan Green does an awesome Yami (though I always thought his Yugi sounded a little old), and Arkana's voice is a lot more hilarious than Pandora's! xD
1. It's fairly popular in fanon (and probably only partially because of that experiment manga artwork that was done), but I have very little use for the Senshi/General pairings. I vaguely like Malachite/Minako, but I do not like Jadeite/Rei or Zoicite/Ami, and I am very indifferent to Neflyte/Makoto. Try as I might, I can't see that pairing working at all, or even the basis for it (other than the manga art).
2. I still do not understand the Chibiusa hate. ;__; Yeah, she can be annoying sometimes, but she's a kid. Of course she will be frustrating at times. And she really is sweet and develops so much over the course of the show. A huge part of S season would be missing without her friendship with Hotaru. In fact, the whole season would probably be drastically changed without it, and important events might not have happened.
3. Maybe I just haven't seen enough of them, but I really don't like the Amazoness Quartet, in the anime at least. Children villains have never been my favorite kinds of characters. However, I realize that they probably deserve the same kind of leeway I give to Chibiusa, on the basis of them being children and probably not fully understanding what the heck they're mixed up with. I do wonder how they got in with Zirconia at all, and if it's explained in either anime or manga. (Yes, I know they're Chibiusa's Senshi in the manga.)
1. I'm nearly curious as to what you would think of the PGSM(live action pairings) with the generals, but then I recall you're iffy about PGSM Nephrite. I've seen it's popular in fandom, but as much as I like toying with the idea myself (haha, that's what illustrations are for. >D) I look at some of the fics out there and read OC/senshi instead of General/Senshi *sigh*. Trouble of multiple versions &/or lack of canon. ._.; At least PGSM gives us stuff to go on. *pokes it*
2. Chibi-usa drives plot! >O Very much agreed!
3. I think in the animé the quartet were playing in the jungle and Zirconia or her servant showed them magic and promised them pretty baubles that more or less bought her their loyalty. They are more naive and misguided than anything in my opinion. In the manga I think they were brainwashed and awoken from some sort of slumber merely to serve Zirconia... Basically puppets. *sigh* Where she managed to find them, I have no idea. I guess the idea of child-vilains does send a negative message, though I guess it could be treated in a really interesting and challenging manner. Either way, I don't think we get to see enough of them to give them any appeal beyond "cute" or "creepy".
1. I don't know if this is an unpopular opinion or not, but I did not really like any of the Detective Boys when they first popped up. I shared Conan's frustration that they kept interfering with the crimes and not realizing the real dangers they were getting into. And it seemed like they hindered the plot, with their episodes usually being fillers. But Ayumi endeared herself to me pretty quickly, and I'm usually not opposed any longer to Mitsuhiko or Genta, though Genta always annoyed me the most of the three. He seemed so arrogant and downright rude to Conan at first, and it still irritates me when Genta decides to assert himself as the big-shot detective with Conan as a sidekick. But Genta has good qualities too, and I really like his loyalty and sense of justice, when he uses it.
2. Though I'm not opposed to Shinichi/Ran, it sometimes does seem that the movies lay it on pretty thick. I usually don't mind, like I didn't in movie 8, but movie 1 kinda got on my nerves a bit. Maybe because it seemed cheesier there. ^^; I like cheese, but not all the time. Depends on the presentation.
3. Kid's appearances in movie 10 seemed pretty random for the most part, as if it was blatant fanservice that the main plot could survive without. Not that I have a problem with Kid fanservice. XD I have mixed feelings about movie 10 overall, but it was definitely fun, and Kid's presence added to it.
Claude got to that one before you, and it took me some time to think of three opinions for it. XD So I will ponder on whether I can think of three more.
Ouran, hmm. Still very new to the fandom, so my thoughts probably won't be as detailed as they are for the other categories. XD;
1. The twins still honestly don't interest me much. It's not that I'm annoyed by them, per se, but I'm just ... fairly indifferent. And I know pranking characters are popular, but they're usually never among my favorites. (Even though sometimes it admittedly is amusing.)
2. My insistence on logic is still amazed by Hunny's age coupled with his voice. His size isn't so much part of the equation, except that when his voice is so high, I thought he surely must be a child prodigy and much younger than everyone else. Though I guess it's not any different than Yugi's voice in season 0. XD Which, while adorable, also still amazes me.
3. I don't know what the rest of the fan base's take on this is, but when I watched the opening part of episode 1, I didn't realize that Haruhi was Haruhi until she introduced herself. LOL. I knew the show's basic premise, and I'd seen pictures of the cast (even an AMV or two), but when she popped up really honestly looking like a guy, with the glasses and messy hair, and the ambiguous voice, I figured that she must be someone else.
Unpopular opinions, eh? Hmm... how about FF7? Ooh! Or Tsubasa Chronicle? Yeah, let's go with Tsubasa Chronicle, since I should try not to be an FF7 nut all the time. XD
1. Well, I've been trying to avoid a lot of pairing responses, but this one I think deserves it. XD I do not get Kurogane/Fay at all, honestly. Some pairings I can see the basis for, and I kinda see where people get the basis for this one, and yet ... **shrugs helplessly.** Complete comprehension for this one will not come. It seems like another of those overdone, over-rated pairings, to me. I can see Fay maybe being amused if he saw the general consensus on their relationship, but somehow I think Kurogane would be filled with disbelief and even maybe irritation. LOL.
2. At first I was iffy on Mokona actually talking, since I was used to his adorable "Puus!" in Magic Knight Rayearth. But now I'm so used to him talking that I prefer that. XD
... I just realized, the rest of what I want to say will include spoilers for the dark chapters of the manga. XD; **will try to figure out how to say it without spoiling you.**
3. When I first heard about some of the twists around chapter 120 or so, I was not happy. It sounded to me like the whole plot had been ruined. But when I finally broke down and read the new stuff, I found that the way it was presented was acceptable to me, and I did like it. That was partially because one thing I don't recall being told was that there was a way of fixing what went wrong. So I keep hoping for a resolution for the thing I dislike the most, and the new twists and character development are exciting and make up for what I didn't like. And what I didn't like is something that I think the fanbase as a whole was going nuts over, so it's a pretty unpopular opinion. XD
1. I keep trying to see Cloud and Tifa in a romantic relationship, and it will not come. XD; I can picture them as friends, or even in a more brother and sister type way, but when I try to imagine them kissing and that sort of thing, it's hard. **scratches head.**
2. Sane-Sephiroth fans unite! While most people are cooing over his nutty self, or finding him intriguing, I am willing to admit that Yes, he's a wonderful villain ... but his sane self is far more appealing and intriguing. **hops on his back and throws arms around his neck.** I am very fond of madly in love with him. X3
3. When I wasn't really into things yet, I was at Setsuna's site and amazed by the number of Zack plushies. I thought, Well, he's hardly even in the game. And he has so many fans? I couldn't quite figure it out. XD; Looking back on it now, it sounds like sacrilege!
And a bonus, 4. I don't understand Cloud hate at all. Not sure how rampant it is the fandom, but I'm rather bewildered when I do see it. Especially when some people seem to think he deliberately stole Zack's memories. **blinks.** I thought he just had a complete nervous breakdown at Zack's death, and that the mako poisoning was probably what netted some of Zack's memories for him, as well as Cloud's own memories of stuff Zack had told him. And I always thought it happened because he was so distraught that he couldn't do anything to save Zack, and he felt like he couldn't help anyone in general, that he wanted to think of himself as being a SOLDIER, and Zack in particular, because Zack was always able to help. I definitely don't think Cloud was trying to do anything wrong. ;__;
1. I have tried, and tried to like Yahiko. I can't fully make my opinion until I've been able to read the other manga/watch the rest of the anime, but sometimes he just makes me want to scream. XD; I dunno, there's something that bugs me about children who think they're adults. He comes across so arrogant in the early manga, and I know it's probably a facade, but I just really don't like arrogant children characters. I need badly to read the later manga/see the rest of the anime, so I can (hopefully) see him grow up.
2. On the same line, I have also struggled to like Kaoru. I admit that I've finally been able to see her in a somewhat better light now, and I recognize what a kind person she must be, to have all these "weirdos" living in her dojo, but still sometimes she just ... ugh. I think what bothers me the most is when she doesn't have any confidence in Kenshin concerning Megumi. She just goes and hits him and it's really uncalled for. Women who can't have better faith in their men than that get on my nerves. XD; If a male character was like that, and hitting the woman, he probably wouldn't be liked, but when a woman is like that, it's supposed to be funny. **shakes head.** It's just not funny to me.
3. I think the manga-ka has an obsession with decapitation. XD; In the five manga I own, I think there's at least one in each volume. Sometimes it's fairly graphic, too. That's truthfully one of the reasons why I stopped buying the manga. It drives me crazy. That's one change I'm grateful to the anime for making.
You did everything else I wanted to see, so... Pocket Monsters/Pocket Monsters: Advanced Generation, all movies besides M10/DPM1, and all specials besides the Eipam VS Pachirisu one from DP.
I won't ask about DP since I dunno if you've watched any.
1. I can understand how die-hard Misty fans would not be happy with the change, but overall I don't understand all the May/Haruka hate. ;__; Truthfully, I usually like her better than Misty, maybe partially because she doesn't go into such extreme and scary fits of rage. XD; I also found it interesting that she didn't even like Pokémon at first. That was a switch. I really love seeing how she's grown, and I'm rather bummed that she's already gone now.
2. I was very disappointed in TR's minimized roles in some of the middle movies (5 and 6, I believe....) Of course, that was during the time in the TV show when they were getting a bad break too, so it shouldn't have surprised me. But considering how awesome they were in the second movie, for instance, their parts in the middle movies really were let-downs. And definitely not flattering to the characters. One person I know even calls them The Three Stooges because of how idiotic they act during those movies/seasons. (Which I totally blame on the writers, not the characters. I'm very happy to hear that they're being treated better again!)
3. On the subject of the second movie, I think the novelization handled some things better. If I remember right, there was one thing I preferred in the movie, and one thing in the novel, but all I recall now is what I liked better in the novel. There was a scene there where Ash found they were still alive and talked to them briefly. In the movie, he never knew whether they were alive, and did he even wonder about them at all? **can't remember now.**
This should be interesting. XD I'm not sure I can think of three unpopular opinions for Carmen.
WITWICS
1. I'm probably one of the few who is very much against a revival of the show. Remakes just don't work for me. If it ain't broke, don't fix it! I just wanna see reruns of the original, unbeatable classic. ;___; Let it live on as a staple of good kids' TV in the nineties!
2. Probably an unpopular opinion is that I don't like it when the guys dress up as really weird things ... and when they did the can-can with skirts. Too, too weird for me. I was hoping they were just doing the can-can line and kicking their legs in the air, like Sean and Barry did with Greg in You Ain't Nothin' But a House Thief, but instead it was ... blurgh. Brain-breaking!
3. Along the same lines, I don't like some of the really weird Office sketches, like the office shrinking. .___.; And more understandably, the awful head and two-face sketches. You know, in some ways season 1 was more far-out than the later seasons! I don't think they would have dared to do the head and two-face sketches later on. Also, while I'm amused by the polarity sketch, I don't accept it as canon. XD; It only makes sense if the Chief is a robot!
And a bonus addendum: Anything too, too weird/sad is automatically eliminated from my fanfic canon. That includes, but is not limited to, everything bizarre mentioned above, the Dying Informant being attacked by a puppy (which was gross anyway, because didn't it look like the thing was half-in, half-out of his chest? XD;), Mrs. P. moving out and Buddy moving into her place (nooo, Mrs. P., don't go! ;__;), and most of season five in general (except Jeff having a fictional counterpart). Also eliminated are all instances of breaking the fourth wall.
The Monkees
1. I far prefer season 1, and in most of the circles I've been in, people prefer season 2. They like the unrestrained craziness, while I find it too bizarre and gravitate to the more well-structured but still random episodes of season 1.
2. Along those same lines, I prefer season 1 Micky and his season 1 hair. Popular opinion is to love the crazy afro, but I personally think Micky looks much better without it. XD; Also, this confuses me, but doesn't Micky's hair look a lot darker when it's curly? **blinks, wondering if he dyed it.**
... Actually, the only season 2 hair I really like is Mike's. X3 So wavy and soft and fluffy-looking! And Mike had some good season 2 development, unlike Micky. XD; Mike matured further into his role as leader and became more serious and deadpan.
3. I set the show in the present day when I write for it, which is highly unpopular since most people just have it set during the sixties when it was made. Setting it in the present day helps me relate better to it and the characters, and I don't think it takes away from anything.
