Trolls.

Had a lovely sleep and very weird dreams. One involved us at the old house doing some very weird laundry. My Hello Kitty was amongst it and so were what looked like baby shoes? Bizarre.

Second dream I remember was still at the old house and I couldn't quite tell whether it was a role-play or really happening. Something about rebels in a place with two moons (one was a giant lightbulb, LOL) and me playing hide-and-seek with a small white cupboard that I climbed in, and then it was a small, white closet and I was hiding behind clothes, and Lando was wandering around outside the closet and I think he's the one who found me. He wondered what the heck I was doing in there.

Third dream was toy shopping at Toys R Us again. I have a lot of those off and on. This one had me looking for Troll dolls again and being excited to find a small one for $1.50. There was also a bigger one in a wedding gown and it had black hair, which I found a hilarious combination for some reason. I was thinking I'd get both of those.

I woke up nostalgic for Trolls some more. I wish that the last time they came out with Trolls, I could have known about it long before I did. It seemed like I only found out a couple of months or so before they started getting rid of them again. Now I hear that Dreamworks has the U.S. distribution rights because they're going to make a movie next year. I was hoping they'd start releasing Trolls ahead of time to start getting people excited for the movie, but they haven't done anything yet.

I always longed for many Trolls, just like I longed for many Ponies. When it comes to being forced to resort to getting things secondhand, it seems better to get Ponies that way rather than Trolls. I don't know; somehow it seems like it would be hard to get Trolls' hair very clean, and if they're wearing clothes, I'd feel like I needed to wash those out by hand (too small for the washer). That would be such a pain. If I got plush, I heard that when getting secondhand plush, you need to keep it in a pillowcase separate from your other plushies for two weeks to make sure all possible bacteria is killed off. I'm just lucky my Darkwing Duck plush was apparently pretty clean, because I didn't know those tips when I got him. I wiped him off with paper towels and that was it; he joined my plushie family that day.

I could get Trolls mint in package so they'd still be clean in there, but that would send shipping prices way up. So bah, it feels like I don't have many options open to me unless Dreamworks does something with their distribution rights. (And unless I like what their Trolls look like.)

My very first Troll was a little keychain Troll with violet hair from All a Dollar. He was a naked one, so I wonder why Dad even let me get him. LOL. Naturally I clothed him when we got home. First I gave him a blue coat that I think belonged to an Alvin and the Chipmunks figure. Later I wrapped a rag around his body to make a piece of clothing. I really thought I was pretty clever to have made it work so well. Unfortunately, I haven't seen him for years. I think he was a fakie, not a Troll by one of the official companies, but I loved him and I wish I knew where he went. I kind of think he fell behind the bed and Dad found him when we were moving? He put the stuff from behind the bed in a specific sack, and I don't know where said sack is. Siiiigh.

I also have a green-haired Troll figure on a pencil that I don't have access to at the moment. I think I know approximately where that one is, though.

I remember when I was a kid and Smith's was actually selling Troll plushies. And it was right when I actually had a check of birthday money. It was December, about a week before Christmas, so either it was a belated birthday present or else I'd had it since October but hadn't decided what to spend it on yet. Needless to say, I was absolutely ecstatic. I rarely saw Troll figures around and plushies were even better! I got a green-haired girl and next week went back for another. The only one left was a red-haired boy, and both copies had things wrong with them. One had something stuck all through the hair (yuck!). The other had a hole and needed sewing. I ended up getting the latter because I wanted one so bad, even though my preference would have been a character they didn't have any longer. I sewed up the hole as best as I could, and I was glad to have another one even though he wasn't my first choice. I think it was a Troll family; the two I have are the kids, and didn't cost as much, and then there were two bigger ones that were the adults and cost more. I wanted the blue-haired one so bad, but he must have been more money than I could spend or I would have gotten him that first time.

I used to play my DOS Trolls game with the plushies on my lap. I used to always have plushies on my lap on the computer. I don't like to do that anymore; they're too distracting! I keep wanting to cuddle and pet them instead of doing what I'm supposed to be doing. Sometimes they make for awkward typing, too. So I put them on the bed I sleep on if I want them close to me while on the computer. Otherwise, they stay on the other bed.

I was so excited when I found that Trolls game at All a Dollar! It was just a Shareware demo, one little level, but I played the heck out of it. More recently I found the entire game online for free and downloaded it. It doesn't have the music, though. Sigh. But I play it sometimes. I can access all the levels and it's so weird and cracky and hilarious. The bad guys are different odd things corresponding to the themes of the levels, like ink wells and pens and pieces of paper are the bad guys in a writing level. Snerk. The only thing I don't like is that there are evil toys in a couple of toy levels. It's too sad to think of toys being evil, especially since there aren't any good toys to counter that. But eh.

My aunt knew I liked Trolls and one year she gave me some cute cheerleader Trolls she had around. Their hair is red, violet, and orange. The orange one has a black and yellow dress, so she looks like a Halloween girl. LOL. Soon after that, my dad actually found a really big rainbow-haired sailor Troll and I got that for Christmas. Squeeee. I think he's technically a fakie, too, but he looks like official Trolls and I love him.

The most recent time Trolls were out, I at last got a blue-haired Troll. I also got a white-haired angel Troll and a yellow-haired Troll dressed like a ladybug. (I had to.) I wanted more, but they were getting rid of them around that time. Sigh.

So, that is my Trolls collection. Oh, wait, as a kid I also had a Trolls sticker book, which thrilled me to no end when I discovered it at Rite-Aid. I also had some Trolls stickers, the kind you stick on things other than sticker books, and I don't know where I got them. It almost seems like they may have been a prize at kindergarten? I don't really think so, though, because I think I was seven when I got them. I stuck them around stuff. I think there's still one or two of them on the dresser I use. I know there's a pink-haired Troll I stuck on my old crib (where we used to put my plushies). Other than that, I can't remember where the stickers are. Maybe there's one on the high chair? Hmmm.

I had Mom make a whole bunch of paper dolls based on the Trolls in the sticker book and on the stickers. I love those. I should get them out of the box those paper dolls are stored in and look at them again.

I remember one time we got this invitation to look around this furniture store and I was in awe because there were Troll plushies all over the display beds and other places! I wanted one sooo bad. This was before I got my plushies at Smith's. I don't recall if the Trolls were available to purchase or if they were just on display. They probably would have been too expensive if they had been for sale at a store like that. But I was in Heaven walking around seeing them all. There was even some guy talking about them to a small group of people. I think he was telling which ones he bought for his kid and when?

I remember Hammon's Toys had Trolls sometimes. Maybe Hallmark did too? But I didn't have money to get them during the times they were there, and Dad didn't want to buy me one because he felt they were both ugly and expensive. Sigh. (That was before the sailor Troll.) But I loved looking at them, at least.

Also, I found it hilarious when I saw the Gomer Pyle episode where he has a Troll doll in his foot locker. Sergeant Carter's expression when he saw that.... ROTFLOL. "PYLE! A foot locker is for regulation items! A Troll doll is a non-regulation item!"

EDIT: Ohmygoshsquee! There's some Troll plushies on eBay in the same line as the ones I've got, and some of them still say New after all these years! They're very reasonable prices, too. Maybe I'll get a couple. Unfortunately, the only copy of the big blue one I wanted years ago is used, and even says it needs cleaning from light soiling. Ugggh. So he's out. There's a really cute pink ballerina, though, and there's a different blue one that says New! Also a yellow one and a pink/purple one that looks like a diva. LOL.

Recently I saw this quiz turn up on Tumblr. It looked familiar and I thought I remembered randomly taking it the last time it popped up. I finally found that. Apparently I never posted it anywhere. I don't post quizzes on Tumblr and I couldn't find it here. So I touched it up a bit and here you go.

A:Your current OTP. Rumbelle (at least up through season 3A) and Duke/Serenity. Also, I still love Seto/Tea.
B:A pairing you initially didn’t consider but someone changed your mind. Seto/Tea. I used to scoff at it, and then when talking to someone about how unlikely it seemed, I got the urge to see if it could work after all.
C:A pairing you wish you shipped, but just can't. Yugi/Tea. I feel so guilty to not be able to ship it, when Yugi has such a big crush on her, but I just can't. It's Seto/Tea all the way for me.
D:What was the first thing you ever contributed to a fandom? Oh gosh, I don't know. My Gomer Pyle website, maybe? I think that came even before my All Dogs Go to Heaven website.
E:Have you added anything stupid/cracky/hilarious to your fandom, if so, what? Too many things to name them all. Silly fics about Internet lingo and Sephiroth, Cloud, and Zack being confused.... Pictures of Lieutenant Anderson ordering from Pizza Hut....
F:What’s the longest you’ve ever been in a fandom? What fandom was it? The Monkees, probably. I'm still in it. I don't leave fandoms except in very rare cases. I do sometimes stop submitting new things for fandoms, though. I still occasionally write Monkees fics, but I haven't done anything for Gomer Pyle in years and years.
G:What was your first fandom? If by fandom we mean connecting with other fans, that would be Balto/All Dogs Go to Heaven.
H:Do you prefer real-life TV shows or animated TV shows? Depends on the show. I don't really actively prefer one over the other.
I:Has tumblr caused you to stop liking any fandoms, if so, which and why? No.
J:Name a fandom you didn’t care/think about until you saw it all over tumblr. Marvel Cinematic Universe. I still haven't seen any films in it other than Captain America, but the GIF sets I see floating around make me curious.
K:How do you feel about the other people in your current fandom(s). Basically, they're nice people. Every fandom has its screwballs, though.
L:Your favorite fanartist/author gives you one request, what do you ask for? ... Honestly, that would depend on what fandom they're my favorite in. I would adore for someone to draw me Ginger and Lou or Snakes art. I love drawing it myself, but it's even more fun when others join in. But if this is pairing specific, I would love fanart or fics for any of my favorite ships. Duke/Serenity could especially use more art.
M:A person who got you into a fandom and what fandom they pulled you in to. I'm usually the person pulling people into fandoms. And usually it's more than one person who gets me into a fandom, since it generally takes me a while to want to try something new when I'm busy with what I've got.
N:Your favorite fandom (for the people; not the thing you fangirl over). Good question.
O:Choose a song at random, what ship does it remind you of? Hallelujah (Leonard Cohen). It reminds me of Rumbelle. However, I usually associate it with Ginger and Lou friendship (or Ginger's life in specific) more than anything romantic.
P:Invent a random AU for any fandom (we always need more ideas). Why does it have to be an AU idea? It's generally more fun to just write in the canon-established verse, unless said canon-established verse has become a disaster and impossible to work with, like Once Upon a Time is now. I have an AU for Once that picks up at season 3B and has Belle save Rumpel a la Beauty and the Beast. It then continues from there with slice-of-life stuff and Neal still very much alive. Maybe one of these days I'll actually write something more for it.
Q:A ship you’ve abandoned and why. When I think something works, I don't tend to abandon it even if I stop being involved in fanworks for it.
R:A pairing you ship that you don’t think anyone else ships. ::shrug.:: .... Peter Howard/Nancy Drew, from The Ghostwriter's Cruise episode of the 1970s show. They could have had a lot of fun interaction, if given the chance. And May-December romance for the win. The 1970s Nancy Drew series seemed to be in favor of such things more than once (although nothing ever got serious in any of the cases).
S:What's a headcanon you have? ... For what? I have dozens and dozens of headcanons for many shows. They don't often involve romance, though. Let's see.... I decided to write Lieutenant Schrank from West Side Story as having been married, but then divorced. It wasn't a friendly divorce. Mr. Wye from The Man from U.N.C.L.E. had a similar fate. I believe those are the only canonically single characters I've chosen to portray as having been married before.
T:What are your favorite male/male ships or female/female ships? Don't have any. I absolutely adore platonic life partners, though. Ginger and Lou from The Rockford Files would be in that category.
U:What are your favorite male/female ships? Rumbelle, Duke/Serenity, Seto/Tea, Nephrite/Naru.
V:Do you have any 3-way ships? If so, what? No.
W:5 favorite characters from 5 different fandoms. Rumpelstiltskin/Mr. Gold, Duke Devlin, Oscar Goldman, Hamilton Burger, The Virginian
X:3 OTPs from 3 different fandoms. Rumbelle, Duke/Serenity, Nephrite/Naru
Y:A fandom you’re in but have no ships from. The great majority of them. It's rare when I do have a ship.
Z:What's a ship that you want to ship publicly, but everyone on tumblr hates it so you keep your mouth shut about it? I dunno.

If anyone has heard that Jim Nabors, beloved as the character Gomer Pyle, is dead, it's not true. He's currently fighting false death reports due to some International Idiots who got their people mixed up and started announcing his death. In actuality it was George Lindsey, who played Gomer's cousin Goober (... weird name, I know), who died.

This is sad on two levels. First, it causes an uproar over people thinking someone is dead who isn't. And it doesn't allow the proper respect for the person who really did die.

**headdesk.**

In all honesty, I've thought long and hard about this many times in the past, and I think I'd be the one not ready to commit. It's hard for me to imagine me being ready while the other person wouldn't be. In fact, it's downright nigh-impossible.

I've thought long and hard in general about men and dating lately. I had occasion a couple of weeks ago to attend an activity of people my age in this area who belong to my church. They were friendly and sweet and some of them I'd like to get to know better. But at the same time, the atmosphere was just so full of silliness that I felt I didn't fit in. I'm a serious person by nature, even though I like to laugh. The person I think I clicked with best there was someone who seemed more that way. He had a great, fun time there and put on a good act (it was a talent show), and he wasn't pushy about me preferring to attend a different congregation than the one made up specifically of people around my age. (Pushing me to try to go to the latter congregation just alienates me further, so it meant a lot to me that he was understanding. He said, "Wherever you feel comfortable.")

I've been wondering lately if I would feel most comfortable with someone older than me. All my life, I've usually gravitated more to older people to chat with and have as friends. Even when I was in the youth group, I struck up rapports with the leaders and preferred chatting with them over my contemporaries. I liked talking one-on-one with those my age, but if I didn't take a shine to a particular one I preferred to stay quiet.

(And of course, there's my love of old movies and TV shows. There's not a lot of people my age who are into older things, or at least, it's not always easy to find them except on the Internet. Which may also be part of the reason why I feel more at home with older people.)

With celebrities too, I've noticed that for the most part I have always gravitated to older men. I took notice of young Paul Popowich because my mom noticed him, and then I grew to love him too. And Elijah Wood was just so awesome as Frodo that he ended up becoming a favorite of mine as well. But they're the exception rather than the rule. When I was little and watching Mr. Rogers, I used to say my quilt had a crush on him. LOL. I suppose I probably really had a crush on him myself. And I remember crushing on Chuck.

Around eleven or twelve I had a crush on Barney Fife. Then, when I got to see Gomer Pyle for the first time since I was in kindergarten, I realized I had a crush on Corporal Boyle.

I've mentioned before that I prefer Jimmy Murphy in his older roles, when he was in his thirties and forties. For Simon Oakland I'm more torn on what era I prefer. But regardless, he didn't even start acting in the movies and on TV until he was in his forties. And now William Talman's strongly in the picture too (even though I've liked him for however long I've paid attention to Perry Mason episodes).

I kind of feel torn, though. I love quite a few recent things as well as old things, so I wonder if I'd be happy with someone who is more into older things alone. What I kind of think I'd like best is a man older than me who likes a mixture of both, as I do. But maybe if there is a man my age who likes both, I'd be happy that way too. Maybe what I ultimately want is someone serious and mature who still knows how to have fun.

In any case, I did find that fellow very sweet. I liked him when I saw him previously at my class on Wednesday once, too. I don't see him around very often, but if I see him again I plan to try to say Hello.

Also in any case, however, I'm not ready for any sort of romantic relationship. But, even as cynical and scoffing as I often am, it is something I think about.

I don't think I'll be on tonight. I wasn't able to get my thing last night at Borders and we have a mountainload of stuff that we're trying to do today. If we don't get it done today, I don't know what I'll do. I don't want to call and ask them to extend the hold again! And tomorrow the libraries close at six, so there'd be even more of a rush.

I really have to be careful with how I write the Linda character in Will the Real Baby Face Please Stand Up? I'm afraid that if I don't look out, she'll fall in love with Tony. XD; And the last thing I want to do is to create a Mary-Sue. Though, even if she fell in love with him, I'm pretty sure it would be unrequited. But still . . . I'd rather not do the angle at all. At least that's what I tell myself in my more sane moments. Every now and then I actually do struggle a bit with such matters, like in the past with the Seto/Téa thing.

I'm so ashamed of myself for creating a blatant Mary-Sue when I was writing Gomer Pyle fanfics. The character Mary Ann Harper existed solely to have a crush on Corporal Boyle. I didn't know what a Mary-Sue was at the time, but now that I do know, I know that's definitely what she was. One of these days I'm going to rewrite my Gomer mysteries and Mary Ann will get a very small part, if she gets one at all.

If I can get a screengrab of the scene where Baby Face is leaning on the bar and Ruby is standing next to him, I'd like to make a joke icon that says "Baby Face and Ruby: OTP." It would be a joke icon because I don't subscribe to the OTP (One True Pairing) craze. XD I do think that they're kinda cute together, but only if written for properly. If they both got all mushy, that would be scary. (For those who don't know, Ruby tends to be overly affectionate while Baby Face is aloof and distant.)

I need to put that $50 in the bank. (Well, I do have money in the bank, of course, but I need to make up for what I've used now.) I've been buying stuff online, since most of what I want doesn't seem to be around here. Early this morning I found a seller who had pictures of both Roy Stuart and Jimmy Murphy. I was quite surprised. ^^ The auction for the Jimmy Murphy picture was Buy It Now, so I did. XD; I didn't think I'd be seeing any more for a while, so I grabbed it. He is, sadly, very unknown in most circles. I think he has a lot of talent, and he is a comedic genius with all the reactions he can get to match what's going on around him.

I've been introducing Aubrie and Stacey to some of my favorite Monkees songs. X3 That's fun, and I'm glad that I've been able to successfully pick some that they like too. ^^

Clicking them takes you to the full-size versions, and the descriptions I wrote up. First we have this attempt at anime Monkees. XD I'm quite pleased with it, and I think everyone is recognizable.

OC Art )

And I finished the story! **pets it.** I'm really pleased with how it came out. All of it's floating around online somewhere now except for the final segment. There's five segments altogether. Then of course I have my idea for the next story, and it's called Will the Real Baby Face Please Stand Up? Go ahead and take a guess what it's about. If I already told you, that doesn't count. XD;

Plus, about half a dozen people in a Monkees fanfic group I'm in have expressed interest in me writing a story telling about how Tony and Baby Face met up in the first place. I can't help it, those characters really intrigue me, and especially Tony. I would like to know if he was always a crooked cop, or if he started out trying to uphold the law and then something happened that set him down a wrong path, and I would like to know how he ever made Baby Face's acquaintance. Was he the cop originally assigned to capture him? I have a lot of ideas for the story floating around in my mind, and knowing that I'm not the only one interested in the subject encourages me to write it.

On another note, I found out that Roy Stuart, my favorite actor from the old show Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C. died this past Christmas. @__@ (And I keep typing Ryou every time I try to say Roy!) Roy played Corporal Charles Boyle, an absolutely awesome character. Man, I had no idea he was dead.

The way I found out was quite bizarre and off-the-wall, and it all connects with The Monkees. XD; I already mentioned I'm intrigued by Tony. I think some of the expressions he got during the Alias Micky Dolenz episode were so very priceless, and that the scene with Micky in the backroom would have been a lot less funny without Tony's reactions. So, as might be expected, I wanted to know what else the actor had been in. Well, the actor, Jimmy Murphy, is a character actor who mostly appeared in random episodes of old TV shows. (He also appeared in four or five Bowery Boys movies in the fifties. I had no idea the Bowery Boys even existed until two nights ago.) Anyway, so he was in an episode of Gomer Pyle's show. And of course, since I have all the episodes recorded, I wanted to know where that episode fit in so I could go watch it.

Well, a long time ago I compiled an episode guide for the show, and sorted everything into order. I don't think there's another Gomer episode guide anywhere on the web that has both titles and descriptions. But I forgot the URL of my own website. XD; So I Googled it and ended up on Wikipedia.com, and from there I learned that Roy Stuart had died. o.o;

Incidentally, I did find my website (Angelfire was stupidly case-sensitive!), and the episode guide. It was the episode right before my favorite Gomer episode, Gomer the Welsh Rarebit Fiend. And I happened to know where that tape was, so I got it out, hooked up the VCR, and watched it. Jimmy Murphy played a guy on the street who whistled at Lou-Ann Poovie when Gomer, Sergeant Carter, and Duke were all walking her home and going through a bad neighborhood. What resulted was a hilarious scene where Carter tried to be all macho and bawl the guy out, Duke wanted to handle it, and Gomer said it had all been a misunderstanding.

By the way, another irony is that right after that taped episode, I found the second half of the Screen Gems Network version of Monkees in a Ghost Town. I'd completely forgotten that I'd put that episode on two tapes!
